CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A total of 12,615 private workers in Central Luzon will receive PHP5,000 financial assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as part of the agency's efforts to help mitigate the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The financial benefit is under the DOLE’s Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).
DOLE Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita said on Monday that some PHP63.075 million has been disbursed as of April 3, covering some 664 private establishments in the region.
Under Department Order No. 209, s. 2020, private companies that have implemented flexible work arrangements (FWA) or temporary closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic may apply under the CAMP.
Upon DOLE’s approval, Campita said each of the private establishments’ employees will receive a one-time financial support of PHP5,000 to be transferred directly to the employee’s payroll account or through money remittance centers.
“The worker-beneficiaries of the 664 private establishments are advised to wait for a text message/notice from Lhuillier as to when and how they can claim the financial support under CAMP,” she said in a statement.
Out of the total 664 approved establishments, 236 companies which cover 4,340 affected workers are from Pampanga, while 124 establishments with 3,624 workers are from Bulacan.
Eighty-nine firms with 1,296 workers are from Tarlac; 84 with 1,304 workers from Zambales; 60 with 1,059 workers from Bataan; 37 establishments with 596 workers from Nueva Ecija and 34 companies with 396 workers from Aurora.
“We are continuously processing applications and would give you updates as soon as they are available,” Campita said.
Last March 27, the DOLE initially allotted PHP2.195 million for the PHP5,000 financial assistance to 439 affected workers from 71 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Central Luzon. (PNA)
